Treasury Secretary: No cuts to Social Security, Medicare in Trump’s budget

According to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, U.S. President Donald Trump’s first budget proposal will spare big social welfare programs such as Social Security and Medicare from any cuts.

This is good news and means that the pressure from grassroots activists around the country is having an impact.

But just because the White House isn’t proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare “for now” doesn’t mean they won’t later, or that Congress won’t propose cuts. We need to keep the pressure on and demand that Trump keep his campaign promise by pledging to veto any and all cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
